STATES PROJECTS

STUDENTS MUST COMPLETE BOTH PROJECTS TO COMPLETE 1st QUARTER

PART 1 - State of Maryland Brochure

The students are to create a Maryland state brochure in class on a laptop using Microsoft 360, where they will focus on state tourism.  These brochures are to look a numerous kinds of things that the state of Maryland highlights (state parks, mountain ranges, ocean beaches, cities, etc.) They are expected to do the work and research during their class periods and may work at home if the student choses.  I will be available after school each day for the students to work as well. Each student will have to decided what they will want to include – Example if they were doing a brochure on Pennsylvania – they could decided to focus on the kinds of things that families would enjoy doing in PA so they included Hershey Park and the Crayola Factory, or visiting the states big cities - it was can be very rewarding to learn more about the state you live in. It will be important for the students to described the reasons why a person should visit Maryland--golf, viewing the swamps, etc. It must be done in the students own words Plagiarism will cost you greatly.  So Don’t Cut and Paste.  This is part one of a two part project worth 150 points.  Plus there will be daily participation that will be factored in to their grade worth an additional 50 points, leading up to the conclusion of the 1st Quarter.

PART 2 – Social Studies State PowerPoint Report

The second project has the student "Adopt a State PowerPoint Report." that the teacher will choose the state for them.  They then will do research on the state following the required items listed below.
